CULT CREW - ROBBIE MORALES " CREATING A NEW CULTURE"

It's been 13 years since we saw the birth of the cult crew, when Robbie and his crew were working on their first team video, taking team trips to visit bike shops, and taking their idea of a BMX company to the next level. staff. Cult was a fresh start for Morales and the team, and they were doing things differently at every level of the company, from manufacturing to team decisions to marketing. Cult crew from its beginnings sought to create its own identity in the industry but with the particularity that cult sought to create its brand identity based on the parameters of skateboarding, focusing on creating not only bmx parts but also large collections of clothing with art something abstract to what was used to within the industry.

But what was Robbie Morales's career like before he became an entrepreneur?

Going way back, I ran for 13 years or so. I really enjoyed it. It took me five years before it really started to get good. Racing is hard and it teaches you discipline and how to go fast obviously. I was always a heavier guy so I enjoyed taking down riders who were in better shape. I learned to travel, stretch a dollar, and be professional. I got up in the ranks of AA, did well one season and got killed another. Right at the time, my focus was riding for fun; trails, ramps and street. Clipless pedals went into racing and I was out. My teammates like Brian Foster got over it as well and we focused on trail riding. I had a lot of sponsors during that time period like S&M, Standard and DK. Standard was fun and I helped work on the 125R race frame and my signature frame, the Trailboss (which was well received). After Standard, I had the opportunity to be a part of the Terrible One in the Road Fools 1 era.

This was an amazing time, learning business with friends and being part of a real DIY company. Things were tough but I loved it and I have a tattoo to remember the times, yells out to Joe Rich and Taj. Then came FIT, a brand I put my heart and soul into for ten years. Things happen. I am now lucky enough to work with my close friends at CULT, a brand we all strongly believe in. That's the quick version, but I can tell you this: Being a part of BMX for 25 years has taught me more than I ever could. ask for. It teaches you how to be tough and never give up. BMX is so crazy from riding to industry it takes a special breed to stay true. learn business with friends and be a part of a real DIY company.
