BMX for me started about 10 years ago in a very small town called Castellcir. There at the age of 11 I began to see how a group of boys older than me began to build dirt ramps to jump over with their bikes, in my case from a very young age I used to ride a bike with my father, and I was on a The kind of scooter for jumping and grinding. So, knowing that there were guys who were jumping on bicycles was something that fascinated me a lot. As time went by for a couple of years I spent jumping and shoveling with these guys, they were very good and fun times. Ahhhh what good times I still remember when it rained and we came home covered in mud up to our eyebrows, I had a great time both shoveling and riding, it was a perfect way to burn my energy. Seeing that I was having fun, I decided to do a few bmx classes in an indoor skatepark, there I learned my first 180,360... Thanks Roger!
Little by little in the town the feeling of bmx was losing, it was no longer the same as before, since many of the boys there stopped riding. It was a shame, but I keep a good friendship with most of them and a lot of incredible memories. That made me hang out a lot with some colleagues from the next town who made scooters. Just that year, high school had started and in the class I had a friend who liked street scooters a lot, so at school time we took the bike and the skate and we started riding at recess time.
I have to say that if it wasn't for him, I might never have ridden bmx street ever. In high school there were more boys who skated so soon we were a good group of 4 that little by little we were improving. Motivation and desire made us start taking buses to Barcelona to set up its incredible spots and skateparks. That became our routine, we waited all week for the weekend to arrive and we could take the bus to somewhere where there were spots and thus take clips for our video parts. Without realizing it, every weekend we were in a different place, meeting new colleagues and discovering a lot of spots. At that time, a severe ankle injury prevented me from finishing my video part. I spent almost 6 months without riding until little by little I was recovering and getting the feeling again. I spent more and more time in Barcelona, and I met more people who rode, so that led me to a lot of incredible things like my first trip to Montpelier, the first streetjams... That summer I was saving to buy a decent camera and so we can start a video part again. Well, a long time had passed since the first one and it was part of the past. At that time I frequented the mollet skatepark a lot. And that led me to meet the local crew there, the 24/7 bmx crew. I knew who they were from a long time ago because of their videos that I watched so many times before going out to ride, we went out to record or rode in the mollet park all afternoon, everything always with a very good vibe. That coincided with the fact that I got my first sponsor, 360 bicycles offered me to join their team, thanks Pere!
Of course, all this was a great motivation for me. And it helped me a lot to finish my video part that after 2 years of recording it had already become a challenge for me. And it has motivated me even more to continue riding.
Writing this I couldn't help but feel a bit nostalgic when remembering many of the people I've met over the years thanks to the bike.
I explain all this so that you can better appreciate what Bmx is for me. At the end of the day it's a lot of friendship, laughter, improvement, perseverance, discovering the world, learning... That's why I smile every time I see a kid in the skatepark pedaling on fire and trying to do that trick.
Thank you BMX
