STREET SMASHERS

Street Smashers is the anecdotary of our book "in search of my happiness" that will be released at the end of 2025. In this anecdotary and in our bmx worlds segment you will be able to know how bmx lives around the world

INTRODUCTION

Discovering the world behind bmx is finding a way to understand the world from a more realistic and simple perspective. In the next 32 chapters we will see how riders live around the world and we will discover why bmx makes us flee from conventional society to live in freedom.

For this book we interviewed various guys around the world from people like Facundo Fernandez, one of the best riders in San Luis Argentina to retired stars like Zach Newman and Mike Spinner. The creative process to write this book was 3 years in which I took the patience to get to know and connect with different bmx scenes around the planet.

PRESENTATION

Possibly we all know bmx and all its history from the historical moments lived in xgames, by legends Dave Mirra, Matt Hoffman, Stephen Murray or Robbie morales, those legends that built our industry in the 90s and early 2000s, bmx is a sport that has had many stages in which there was a lot of money involved in the industry, stages in which the sport was in crisis and many brands disappeared without a trace.

For years we wanted to know what was hidden in the shadows of the underground, in this compilation of testimonies of more than 20 chapters we will be able to know the vision of what bmx is like in different corners of the planet and what is the projection  that the new generations handle for the bmx in the next 10 years.

When I decided to create street culture magazine, I did it with the aim of creating a space for the diffusion of Latin American bmx without imagining that 3 years later this would become the beginning of the story that would give me great friends around the planet, having the opportunity to deepen in the lifestyle that riders have in different cultures and connect with that common feeling that makes us all love this beautiful sport.

This is Street Smashers and it is the story of a scene that dreams of an intercontinental industry.

THE RENAISSANCE ON WHEELS.

I never imagined that bmx would come back to me after 5 years of inactivity. It was 2020 and only 20 days of confinement had passed due to the start of the covid 19 pandemic, I was just beginning to experience one of the strongest and strangest moments of My life had only passed 1 year since I finished highschool and I was 2 months away from entering university. They were strange times because I did not expect such a big turn that my life would take.

I was barely a month and a half after turning 20, an age in which decisions are those that spell "the end of the game", it was so strange to feel that feeling of uncertainty not knowing if I would start university, but it was even more agonizing imagine that bmx would now remain like a frustrated dream, because it had been difficult when bmx was taken from me at 14 but what I experienced from 14 to 20 is irrelevant, in March 2020 without knowing how to edit I started making videos of my friends to lose boredom for being stuck in the house without going out, from the first video I made the interest in dreaming about what a bmx life would be like, the days went by and the interest in making videos of riders was greater until the day arrived who knew the Argentine bmx scene.

When I began to forge friendships with Argentines, I realized that there was a world in which there were riders who rode wildly despite the great difficulties that they had to try to aspire to a career in BMX. Argentina was the starting point for launch myself to build a scene in which more people with the same dream as me and the only way to understand how I could generate these changes would only be finding the reason why there are people who live for and for bmx, connecting with people and stories to make me understand what changes I should bring about. In 2021 I began the work of interviewing the protagonists of this book, thus giving way to an in-depth study of the reason that unites so many people for the same passion and the best way would be to start this book with the story of one of the promises of the british bmx.

CHAPTER 2 : BRIDGING THE GAP

Normally in this modern society so fragmented we would think that there is no space in which coexistence transcends differences and culture. It is very usual that nowadays the upbringing, faith or even the cultural identity of a person are judged since perhaps they were born In fundamentalist autocracies like Iran, savage regimes like the Russian dictatorship or in ex-colonizing powers like the United Kingdom or France, these are very strange times because despite the great advances in the fight against racism, against hatred of the lgbtq+ community or the fight against machismo, problems that caused so much damage to past generations and to the mental health of many people around the world, despite that, we are living in times in which young people are hopeless and live with constant stress because they do not feel successful in some cases due to the lack of opportunities...

But if I told you that one of the strangest phenomena is in bmx, where the new generation arrives wilder and more talented than ever, guys who are like hungry tigers, guys who train to be the best riders on the planet despite that bmx is a small industry where not everyone can be a paid rider. In the next chapter we will see how boys in Japan live bmx and why despite the difficulties they spend a lot of their time riding bmx in a wild way, being one of the strangest phenomena to occur in a society as modern as Japan.

This strange phenomenon occurs when boys decide to get away from social pressure in pursuit of academic excellence, decide to seek more relaxed lifestyles, work to finance trips to competitions and record videos in magical spots like Barcelona, or simply to travel to ride bmx with other boys in neighboring countries.
