CHAPTER 21 - TROY , YOURWELCOME MEDIA
CHAPTER 21 - TROY , YOURWELCOME MEDIA
Simultaneously with the birth of street culture, we saw the emergence of one of the projects that would win the affection of an entire industry, yes friends I'm talking about yourwelcome.
But what caused the birth of such an amazing project, what caused Troy to be the creator of the most addictive American BMX videos?
Well, here we will see him with his amazing testimony...
Bmx has really brought me a lot of good in my life. It took me away from my house, my childhood house is a very toxic place. So not being around all of that really helped me become the person I was. I didn’t understand things back then now I do so I am definitely super happy I had something to allow me to leave the toxicity.
Bmx has given me the understand in life to know what I wanna do and that I can alway do what I wanna do. It’s taught me how to look into my self and see if something is worth doing or not haha. I think having that know weather something is worth doing or not is a great thing that’s helps in real life. Knowing when to focus down and be like yeah I wanna make this loan for this. It helps you not be scared of life, cuz a lot isn’t more scary then falling onto your face and not being able to do anything about it haha.
I have some life long friends because of bmx, It also continues to grow because of bmx too. Knowing people all over the world and just being able to be like yo, I ride bikes you ride bikes let’s mingle a little bit. Its a really cool thing honestly.
It’s brought me to the thing I love to do most though. That’s filming and running the Instagram for @yourewlcome. Being able to make something like yourewlcome and show love to kids and people who maybe aren’t poppin number one pros. It’s a nice play form for people to come and kinda grow with the Instagram. If it wasn’t for bmx I wouldn’t have found my passion for film and camera. I remember trying to film on the homies camera, and me and a friend going to go in on a vx. That didn’t happen then the stars aligned and I was able to get one when the time was right and I was ready I guess haha.
It’s the best thing in the world, being able to capture my friends and people I come across who are down to film. I get to do it how I want, I’m my own boss I have an image for how I want my stuff to look. I don’t have to hit up someone and go with there time schedule, it’s not going to help someone else or promote someone’s else’s page. I get to create and release my own stuff and for people to have loved it the way they have, only makes me wanna do it more! That’s what’s dope about bmx! People come together and show love and it’s small! You know when the bmx community has let you in. When it shows you that you got something cool going on and that people wanna back it! That the family that I never had and that bmx has brought me. The community of people that I don’t even know me! Think that I’m cool and wanna fuck with me, they watch a video, tag me in a post, or a story, or they send me stuff. Currently I have a broken leg and bmx has shown me how it can come together. My followers have been sending me so much stuff.
For me to go back to the question “how has bmx impacted me?” It’s impacted me tremendously! It’s brought me a family and a community that loves me for who I am, people who wanna know who i am and what’s good with me. It’s a beautiful thing to see and I’m so great full to have been in this shit when I did. Growing up with Justin( Spriet), to meeting the common kids before they were the common kids! Seeing them and how they do shit. From meeting what became the Thank you dudes, then moving on and doing my own thing. It’s been a wild ride and I can’t wait to see what else I can do for bmx and the community. I love you all so much thank you for the support.
