Japan is becoming a cultural mecca within the world of bmx, the Japanese scene has created a unique identity within the industry, since we began to see the video parts they released or since we met motobunka or exceptional photographers like Hikaru the scene Japanese made us see bmx from a more street and somewhat wild perspective... but this time we will talk about Ryota Miyaji and his way of changing conventional bmx and how he lives as a professional rider in Japan.
TOLD BY RYOTA
I was born in Okayama, a city located on the island of Honshu in northern Japan.
In Japan, it is customary for parents to enroll their children in sports teams or take them to sports classes, so I played soccer as a child and practiced other sports before falling in love with bmx.
I got to know bmx at the age of 10 while I was in the 4th grade of primary school, in my childhood my father accompanied me on all the expeditions to see different skateparks, it was quite fun because while I rode my father drank with the parents of the other riders and they had a lot of fun while talking.
In Japan, since we were children, the value of discipline is instilled in us, a value that helps us in our personal and academic growth, although it is a great virtue, it also has many problems because our society is very demanding and competitive, so there is an atmosphere of tension. and competitiveness among the young since we all aspire to enter the most prestigious races in the best Japanese universities but in my case with bmx it was different.
Thanks to bmx I have the best memories of my life, I made the best friends that anyone can have, it has been a very fun path because I have done many trips with my friends, it has been great because during all these years in bmx my greatest desire has been to create my own style and completely master it. Bmx has made me live the most fun years of my life, it's just great.
Ryota Miyaji has become one of the best Japanese riders in the industry globally, he has made great videos for cult - motobunka- bmxfu - merrit and has surprised us by being the first pegless rider to take his style to another level. in which few can master their bike without the need for pegs. Ryota is a great guy, we hope to see him soon in the most important bmx world competitions.
